Cross- Country skiing trail Arventritt in Amden-Arvenbüel

The Chapf-Loop is the easier circuit within the Arventritt cross-country skiing area. It has no major inclines but still offers a fantastic panoramic view of the surrounding mountains.

The Arventritt cross-country skiing area is perched on the terrace of Amden-Arvenbüel high above Lake Walen. This location offers the Chapf trail an unparalleled view: from the Glarus Alps to the majestic Mürtschenstock across Lake Walen, and to the Leistkamm—the highest mountain in Amden and the first peak before the Churfirsten mountains. This panorama is most spectacular from the nearby Chapf viewpoint, which is ideal for taking a breather. There you stand at the edge of the vertical rock face and look down on Lake Walen, 800 metres below, with the Betlis peninsula, as well as the Strahlegg castle ruins and the Linth plain.

The cross-country ski trail is sunny and winds partly through the forest, partly across open fields, and passes by the ski school in Arvenbüel. On the return journey, the impressive Leistkamm ridge remains visible the whole time. If the small climb to Chapf makes you warm, the forest at the trail’s end offers a refreshing cool-down.
