Quinten is probably one of the most unique villages in Switzerland. The small town is part of the municipality of Quarten and lies on the steep northern shore of Lake Walensee. It can only be reached on foot or by boat. Its unique location gives it an almost Mediterranean microclimate.
On the northern shore of Lake Walensee, facing the sun, lies the village of Quinten with its 40 inhabitants. You will search in vain for a road that leads to Quinten, as the village can only be reached by boat from Murg, Weesen or Walenstadt. Alternatively, you can hike from Weesen or Walenstadt to the village in around 3 hours. The special climate gives Quinten a Mediterranean feel. Figs, kiwis and even bananas grow here. The small village centre with a chapel and a few restaurants as well as a small delicacy shop is a real sight.
