The hike starts at the Fly Seestern bus stop in the direction of Betlis. The route passes the restaurants Flyhof and Lago Mio.
From there, the road between Weesen and Betlis becomes very narrow. Thanks to special traffic regulations, cars are only allowed to drive through twice an hour for 5 minutes each time. This makes it a quiet path for pedestrians.
Very close to the lake and with a perfect view of the surrounding mountain landscape, you can enjoy the natural idyll. The two short tunnels through the rocks offer a little refreshment during the walk, especially in summer.
Southern Flair in Betlis
After about an hour, you finally reach Betlis, a small village on the southern slope of the Ammler rock faces. Due to its location, it offers a Mediterranean climate. Betlis is also home to a special natural spectacle - the Seerenbach Falls, one of the largest waterfalls in Switzerland.
Natural Spectacle Seerenbach Falls
The impressive waterfalls can be reached on foot from Hinterbetlis in just under half an hour. The thundering masses of water are particularly impressive in spring when they are full of water. The three-storey waterfall has a total length of 585 meters and is a must-see for all nature lovers. Right next to the Seerenbach Falls, the water of the Rin spring thunders out of the rock. Behind it is a widely ramified cave system that is largely unexplored.
Strahlegg Chapel and Castle Ruins
The Strahlegg castle ruins give visitors an insight into a bygone era: in the Middle Ages, communication with the guards in the Filzbach stream opposite took place from the watchtower. The pretty chapel, on the other hand, is popular with wedding couples due to its picturesque location. From a culinary point of view, the cozy Burg Strahlegg restaurant with play equipment for children and the higher situated Landgasthof Paradiesli with its own organic garden and small animal park are tempting.
