Linthspitz Viewpoint
The Linthspitz Viewpoint is located directly on the beautiful lakeside promenade in Weesen. Here you can look out over Lake Walensee and Amden. A stunning panorama!
The Linthspitz viewpoint in Weesen is the ideal place to be close to the lake and at the same time enjoy the idyllic mountain panorama over Amden. A few benches invite you to relax and unwind. Right next to it, the famous fountain of Weesen catches your eye.
Fountain with an Impressive Mountain Backdrop
The fountain next to the Linthspitz viewpoint has adorned Weesen's harbor promenade for more than 30 years. It hurls around 150,000 liters of lake water per hour to a height of over 22 meters. A rain and wind sensor controls the operation of the fountain.
In the evening, the fountain offers a special color spectacle: The water in the fountain changes color again and again, turning Lake Walensee into a romantic scenery. A great photo backdrop - both during the day and at night!
Discover the Different Water Levels
The water level column is located on a small peninsula near the Linthspitz viewpoint. The column shows the height of the floods that regularly hit the town of Weesen until the 19th century. The Linth Canal was built in 1811 by engineer Hans Konrad Escher. Since then, it has diverted the Linth via Lake Walensee into the upper part of Lake Zurich.
Fantastic Surroundings with Exotic Tree Species
An impressive eye-catcher is the 35 meters hight sequoia tree – one of the few sequoia trees in Switzerland. At Christmas, the tree is decorated with fairy lights and shines over Weesen. West of the landing stage you will find the "Mariasee" spa center. It offers different workshops and courses with accomodation.
The Linthspitz viewpoint can be reached on foot via the bus stop "Weesen, See" or the parking lot "See".
