The approx. 1.5-hour walk starts at the Speer parking lot on Ziegelbrückstrasse. From here, follow Höfenstrasse, which leads slightly uphill on a paved path. Up a flight of steps, following the yellow hiking trail sign and past a few barns, you soon arrive in the middle of nature. You find yourself inbetween lush green meadows where the goats spend their days. The babbling of the springs emerges along the path and characterizes the natural experience.
Wonderful views
The bench at the edge of the forest invites you to linger for a moment and listen to the murmur of the stream. However, the bench at the highest point offers the most beautiful view. Here you can see the deep blue waters of Lake Walensee and the magnificent mountain backdrop of the Glarus Alps. At the Salen fork in the trail at 541 meters, you can once again enjoy the tranquillity of nature before taking the meadow path directly down to the village. The rushing Flibach, which flows into Lake Walensee further down, points the way towards the lakeside promenade, the last section of the circular trail.
Strolling along Lake Walensee
Back in the village, you cross the main road, past the Flikirche church to the lakeside promenade in Weesen. There are numerous benches here to enjoy the fantastic view of Lake Walensee. Depending on the time of year, an ice cream or hot chestnuts will sweeten your stay at the beautiful harbor. The loop ends at the Kurfürstenpark and the short stretch along the Linth until you finally return to the starting point.
