Aquafitness - Rejuvenate your body and soul

Container

If you are a frequent visitor to swimming pools and indoor pools, you will certainly recognise the following sight: People of different age groups jogging, boxing or dancing through the cool water.

It is evident that these scenes are solely influenced by the prevailing sport of aqua gymnastics. Although it has been an encouraging form of exercise ever since the middle of the 20th century, it is currently gaining more and more popularity.

How a modern interpretation of aqua gymnastics affects the body

Aquafitness trains the body holistically. It strengthens muscles, increases endurance and improves coordination. Sports enthusiasts utilise the special properties of water: The buoyancy of the water creates an almost weightless state, which means that only ten percent of your own body weight has to be carried when moving in the water. However, due to the natural fluid resistance, this is sufficient to still achieve excellent results.

This form of exercise, which is gentle on the joints, is no longer only used as part of rehabilitation programmes, but is also effective for weight loss. The latter is also possible due to the thermal conductivity that characterises water. When you enter the pool, your body will automatically increase its temperature. This burns calories while strengthening the heart and circulatory functions.

Despite these positive effects in terms of fitness, the feel-good factor and an entertaining improvement in the health of the course participants are the top priority. Regardless of whether they suffer from diabetes, obesity or asthma.
