The flowers are slowly taking on autumn colors and the plants are going to rest before the first frost. About time to prepare the boxes for winter.
Together with the municipality of Weesen, which also act as godparent, the flower boxes are winterized. The wildflowers are cut off, the boxes are filled with soil, various flower bulbs are planted for the spring awakening and the boxes are covered with fir branches.
Become a flower godparent
To ensure that the flower boxes are maintained in a four-season cycle, the commission has launched a sponsorship programme. Local people, families, businesses and associations can take on a sponsorship and thus become godparents. This sponsorship includes regular care of the plants, especially in the summer months when water and attention are particularly needed. The municipality of Weesen also adopts a box as a godparent.
