Curling in Arvenbüel
Not for the warm and fuzzy. Nevertheless, curling is becoming increasingly popular. On the natural ice rink in Arvenbüel, you can enjoy the cool fun with either a mulled wine aperitif or a delicious cheese fondue afterwards (or both). A unique mix of sport, enjoyment and socialising - ideal for family celebrations, club outings or team events.
If you enjoy playing boccia or boules in summer, you'll also love curling. But beware: without warm socks and even warmer winter boots, it quickly gets chilly. Not to say freezing cold. But with the right equipment, the game is great fun!
Who invented it?
Before we get started, here's a brief digression into history. Curling is a simplified form of curling and is also comparable to, yes, boccia or boules. The old folk sport is part of the customs in many regions, has a long history and was mostly celebrated as a fun game. There were no standards for a long time, and it was only in the 1950s that standardised competitions were held at European level. It was invented - no, not by the Swiss - by the Scandinavians. It was only later that the sport found its way to the Alpine region.
And this is how it works ...
The aim of the game is to throw your team's ice sticks as close as possible to the stave, the target, or to place them in the best position. The game is very easy and quick to learn. The focus is on socialising, outdoor exercise and a little humorous competition.
