The Amden ski area is located above Lake Walensee in the canton of St. Gallen. There are a total of 20 kilometres of slopes for skiing and snowboarding and six lifts transporting guests. The winter sports area is situated at an altitude of 931 to 1684 metres.
There are two different ski areas called "Mattstock" and "Arvenbüel". The Mattstock area is located directly above the village of Amden. The valley station of the chairlift is located in town. The slopes are of intermediate difficulty and there are several restaurants to cater culinary needs.
The other part of the ski area is located at Arvenbüel. The slopes are mostly of easy or intermediate difficulty and are ideal for beginners and children. There is also a flat beginner's area, where the ski school lessons take place, and a snow park for the more courageous. The two skiing areas are connected by bus. For all non-skiers, the area also offers snowshoe and winter hiking trails, cross-country ski trails and an ice rink.
