Through Snowy Forests
From the starting point in the Arvenbüel district at 1273 m.a.s.l., the trail first leads along the Leistkamm road down to Beerenbach. Here begins the heart of the snowshoe trail. Up to Looch the trail leads through the Eggwald and over wonderful snow-covered alps with magnificent views to the Leistchamm and over the Glarus Alps. On the west side of the Flügenspitz it goes over loosely wooded area to Bärenegg and Schiblerwiti. From Looch the trail runs along the contour line around 1550 m.a.s.l..
Time to Relax
After a short ascent to Saum, at this point you can catch a glimpse down into the Toggenburg. At 1628 m.a.s.l. you reach the highest point of the snowshoe hike. The view sweeps over the Alpstein with the iconic mountains Säntis and the Churfirsten. Once you reach Vorder Höhi, you may relax in the alpine inn. What could be better than enjoying a coffee sourrounded by idyllic snowy landscape?
Simply Fabulous
On the way back, the path first leads parallel to the winter hiking trail, relatively steeply down towards Arvenbüel. Before reaching Alp Altschen, the trail branches off in the direction of Zopf. Shortly after, you hike along the fairytale-like Beerenbach back to Arvenbüel. Listen to the idyllic sound of the stream while the sun rays make the snow-white landscape glisten - a dreamlike feeling!
