Specifics of the tour
Geological highlights / Botanical highlights
The circular hike of approx. 2 hours starts at the Niederschlag mountain station by the Mattstock chairlift. You follow the signpost Niederschlag Station (1292m) in the direction of Hinter Höhi (40min). The wide gravel path leads straight ahead through meadows and pastures to the next signpost at Alp Strichboden (1311m). Here, the route continues steadily uphill on a tarred road in the direction of Hinter Höhi (30min). After a few bends you pass the cross and the stable at Gäudig and follow the signpost to Hinter Höhi (15min).
Enchanting High Moor Landscape
The Hinter Höhi (1421m) forms a mountain saddle between the Mattstock and the Gulmen. The protected moorland area is home to numerous wild plants. Here, the Hinter Höhi Swiss family barbecue site invites you to enjoy a barbecue surrounded by the magical natural landscape. After the barbecue, the trail leads from Hinter Höhi in the direction of Stöcklersiten (30 min). A wide gravel road leads through the protected high moor. To the left and right, you are surrounded by numerous Legföhren and marshy natural landscapes. The Hinter Höhi wildlife sanctuary is home to capercaillie, chamois and mountain hares.
Varied Hiking Trail with Fireplaces
At the next signpost, turn right towards Stöcklersiten. There are more fireplaces along the way, which provide an opportunity for a leisurely rest. This is followed by an easy ascent to Stöcklersiten (1428m). You turn right at the bottom in the direction of Amden (1h 35min). The path now becomes somewhat narrower and leads down across a meadow to Alp Stöggli (1353m). From here, the trail descends in a few bends along the paved road towards Fallen (25 min) and Amden (1h 10 min). The path through the forest runs alongside the Stöcklerbach stream for a while. At the next forks, you stay on the road and walk past. After the signpost for Fallen / Gadestatt (1218m), continue in the direction of Holz. Lastly you pass the Sell ski lift and walk back to the Niederschlag mountain station.
