Those who arrive at the Oberchäseren mountain restaurant can be proud of themselves, as the alp is only reachable by foot. It is located in an idyllic scenery between the Mattstock and the Speer mountains, high above Weesen. Hikers can take their well deserved break here or even stay overnight, to experience sleeping in a mountain hut.

Golden Butter Fresh from the Alp
A special product of the Oberchäseren alp is the unmistakable gold butter (Swiss German: "Goldbutter"). It is made from the raw milk of cows that stay outdoors on the meadows all summer long. Flowers and wild herbs are the daily food of the cows. This gives a very nutritious milk which is processed into a high-quality golden butter.
Up Hill and Down Dale into Paradise
With good footwear, the hike to the Oberchäseren mountain restaurant is easily doable. From the village of Amden you reach it after a hike of about 2.5 hours. From Niederschlag mountain station chairlift, it is about 2 hours by foot.
