Who invented it?
Before we get started, here's a brief digression into history. "Eisstockschiessen", also known as "farmer's curling", can also be compared to, yes, exactly, boccia or boule. This traditional folk sport, with its deep-rooted history, has long been celebrated as a fun activity. For a long time, there were no standardized rules, and it was only since the 1950s that unified competitions were held at the European level. While it wasn’t the Swiss who invented it, the sport originated in Scandinavia and only later made its way into the Alpine region.
And this is how it works ...
The aim of the game is to throw your team's ice sticks as close as possible to the target, the socalled "Daube", or to put them in the best position. The game is very easy and quick to learn, and it's all about socializing, outdoor exercise and a casual competition.
